Re: [PCWorks] Fix - Same constant error when installing XP Home on formatted HD, clean install: x:\i386\asms\10\MSFT\windows\GDIplus.man

No, that would require a HD be reformatted. ;-) That was the
only XP Home CD I currently have. I'm sure it was the CD,
otherwise Pro would not have installed. If a PC is not
"compatible" with Home it's not going to be compatible with
Pro.

In the info I found while searching for this, in many of the
cases it was also a bad CD. What I find strange is why such a
specific error (path below) can occur when so many people's
CD's were bad in so many different ways??? It's like EACH CD
would have to be defective in the exact same spot! Or, could
be, and makes more sense, that this error is thrown when ANY
kind of a CD read error happens, regardless of where a scratch
is or defect is.

Hmmm...
Can you confirm that theory by using his XP Home CD on a
different computer,
and/or by using a different XP Home CD on his computer?
That would help you verify whether the problem is a defective
CD (it
happens) or an incompatiblity between XP Home and his computer
configuration.
