[PCWorks] Audio Streaming Problem

The two audio streams I listen to almost exclusively are:
http://206.217.134.126:8000
http://listen.mushroomfm.com:8760
Not sure where I got the IP address for the first one. The
website for the stream is:
http://www.therideradio.net
and in just checking the listen link is for loudcity.com so
perhaps the couple who own the stream gave it to me.

Using the ActionTec GT724R and when pa.net used Verizon DSL I
did not have any problems. The streaming problem started when
pa.net changed to value.net for DSL. I did have to change my
user name in the GT724R setup. My user name had been the
e-mail address I have with pa.net. It was changed to my phone
number followed by @value.net .

When I first got the GT724R I had to set port forwarding for
port 8000 and port 8760 before I could hear the audio
streams. Those ports are still open.

The problem is, I open Windows Media Player, press control
"u" (open url) and type in either of the above two URLs. The
player opens, and my screen reader pronounces the mouse
pointer "app started" but nothing happens. Most of the time,
clicking the "stop" button followed by clicking the "play"
button six or eight times the audio will start. If that
doesn't work, I close Windows Media Player, open it again,
then go through the "stop" "play" buttons a few more times
and eventually I get audio.

I know computers aren't supposed to work that way, I wrote
machine code and assembly for over thirty years on mainframe
computers.

My computer name is td.

I had the same problem with VLC and the player Clint told me
about.

I'm going to reset the GT724R and start fresh. If that
doesn't work I'll just put up with it.

If the problem is between my computer and the GT724R I'd
guess I'd have the same problem with another ISP. I do tend
to be very loyal so don't really want to go somewhere else.

Thanks for all the help.

It seems like I'm the only one who ever posts to the list and
it's always a problem. Glad you guys are here.

Tom
