Hi GMan,

When I was talking to HP Tech support we changed the setting from .tif to
.jpg...there was no way to change it to .doc....but she remarked that in tif
& jpg it was set to the lowest level which as I recall was 300 dpi. When I
took his laptop to my home, used my HP all-in-one to scan a document as well
as a picture & sent them from his computer to mine it worked within seconds.
That's what lead me to believe it must be that particular HP unit or perhaps
that model that was the problem. But no matter what, the tech & supervisor
still said it was not their concern.

I did not see Don's response to my post (more than likely I over looked it).
Do you have any recommendations as to a good brand for scanning /copying?

Thank you,
Jan

Jan,
In addition to what Don has already said, I'm really curious as to the
size the file you're trying to add to the email. It could very well be that
your scanning program is set to save it at too high a resolution. Also,
what program are you using to accept these scans? I can assume that it's
the one that came with the scanner, but I'm sure you know what they say
about assumptions. lol

I'd also like to point out that, assuming you're able to get the image
down to a more reasonable size, one should never send larger attachments
(anything over 250KB) without first warning the recipient first. Some folks
still pay by the hour for their internet time and a huge post could really
get them steamed. :O)

Peace,
GMan
