Christy-- I remember when I got my first winXP machine...within just a few minutes I was ready to pack it up and ship it back! I went directly from win 98 to XP, and I couldn't find windows explorer--and had no idea where to look; I was sure they did away with it, and how was I supposed to find anything?!! Someone talked me down... and once I began to find where thngs were and how they worked, I learned to love it... 8^) I still have win xp on my computer as well as Ubuntu linux...but I've just about figured out how to do everything in Ubuntu...so I don't boot win xp much anymore.
