Thanks !
Windows update wouldn't download again - it said it was
waiting for a re-boot of the current process.
I figured out how to disable it - but then I uninstalled it
(start up monitor) anyway. Figure I'll put it back on again.
I had Start Up Control Panel on my old computer. I don't
have it on this one - that is what I thought I was looking
for in control panel that I couldn't find.

Hey, Cris,

Sure, I use one. Mine is just a Windows Process, and I can
stop it at
any time through Windows Task Manager (Ctrl-Alt-Del). Yours
is
probably similar.

(There's also a link to shut mine down in Start >> Programs)

Doubt you've messed up anything. Just shutdown through Task
Manager,
go to Windows Update again and re-download. When you reboot,
your
Startup Monitor will start up again.
