Thanks to both of you!  Now can you tell me if it is a good idea
to click
never?  Does the sleep or hibernate or standby functions
sigificantly impact
the life of my machine?

Well I like having control of my computer and simply have a screen
saver come on when I am away from it for more than 5 minutes doing
other things.

About the only thing which can **break** on a computer that has
had proper maintenance is the on-off switch so I only turn mine on
or off at the beginning or end of my day.  The cost to run a
computer is negligble.
