Hi Connie, OE needs hard drive space in order to compact its folders. If you have a folder with 5 MB. worth of messages, OE will need 5MB. of empty space to compress it. Consequently, if you have a folder with 1GB worth in it, it'll need an additional 1GB of empty space to compact that one, too. To make things worse, if you're on a WinNT, Win2000 or WinXP system and have Norton Utilities (or SystemWorks) installed, your Recycle Bin may not be releasing the space used by previously compacted folders. In other words, the first file's 5MB of free space is not released back to the hard drive and the 1GB. file has less free space to work with. If you have lots of folders inside OE, this eventual 'erosion' of free hard drive space could be why it won't compact all of them. You're running out of space before it can complete the task. One workaround is to disable Norton's Protected Recycle Bin before compacting the folders. Just remember to re-enable it once you're done. 8^) You can also release the missing space by right clicking on the Recycle Bin and selecting "Empty Norton Protected Files" and then clicking Yes on the confirmation screen that pops up.
