As a tech, I'm extremely partial to Lenovo for their reliability. I've also
been knocked unconscious several times by Compaq and Sony's lousy tech
support when trying to get info about a customer's laptop (and some desktops
for that matter).
Spend some time researching recent reviews of whatever you end up putting in
your "serious consideration" list before you buy. A little extra research
can go a long way towards steering you away from potential problems down the
road.
