I just went to internet properties and connections, and for my earthlink
dialup connection I have it set to never dial a connection, so how is
earthlink saying it is connected then lol..

I had already tried disconnecting the net adapter by right clicking on it
and it would not let me, also the word "status" was in bold, it says
connected as does my dialup, so like two connections. I dont see how that
is possible lol.. is there a way to check my speed of my connection(s)?
