Open up WinAmp and use it to take over the file associations. Once open, go to Options > Preferences and then click on File Types to get to the correct area of the settings. The changes are set in the registry the moment you close the Options window. If it still doesn't work, we can set up a remote connection and I'll see if I can determine what's getting in the way.
