Scan Disk looks for errors and hopefully finds none or fixes them. Defrag organizes your data so your machine will run more efficiently. Therefore, Run Scan Disk to be sure the disk is in good physical shape and then Run Defrag to organize the data on the disk and optimize its performance... Don't worry about your terrible memory..
