I guess it depends on your system?? I run XP and don't have the option in defrag..I run scan disk by : start, my computer. right click local disk (c), tools tab and then and/or check for errors, check for bad sectors , close and on next reboot the scan disk begins.. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Hank 1&1" <hank@xxxxxxxx> To: <pctechtalk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Friday, August 13, 2004 12:21 PM Subject: -=PCTechTalk=- Re: Scan Disc or Defrag. ???? Hi Rose, When I run defrag there is an option to check for errors, Is that the same as Scan Disk? Scan Disk looks for errors and hopefully finds none or fixes them. Defrag organizes your data so your machine will run more efficiently. Therefore, Run Scan Disk to be sure the disk is in good physical shape and then Run Defrag to organize the data on the disk and optimize its performance... Don't worry about your terrible memory..
