I'm surprised people have noted one serious flaw in the phisher's e-mail. Check it out for yourselves: The e-mail I'm replying to was sent at Tuesday, June 23, 2009 3:15 PM (MY PC says 2:31pm, but I'm on CST not EST) The date of publication of this "update" (which is really malware) is: Date Published: Tue, 23 Jun 2009 17:36:34 +0100 17:36 is military time for 5:36p.m. So to get me to fall for this scam, I'd have to believe I'm downloading an update that hasn't been published yet. And it's not even a real update to boot. ----- Tim -----Original Message----- From: pctechtalk-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:pctechtalk-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Larry Southerland Sent: Tuesday, June 23, 2009 2:25 PM To: pctechtalk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: ***SPAM*** -=PCTechTalk=- Re: FW: Microsoft Outlook Update Scam Unfortunately, I've read that a great number of people have fallen for the scam already and I just wanted to make sure that the group was aware of the existence of the scam to prevent any "inadvertent mistakes." -----Original Message----- From: pctechtalk-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:pctechtalk-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of ml Sent: Tuesday, June 23, 2009 3:15 PM To: pctechtalk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: -=PCTechTalk=- Re: FW: Microsoft Outlook Update Scam since when has microsoft EVER passed around an email??? to uptdate ANYTHING?
