Rose,
    Win9x/ME had an app called "Letter Assigner" you could run that would 
assign letter according to the drive's serial numbers.  If that's what 
you're thinking of, it doesn't work in any NT flavored Windows.  I'm still 
researching methods for WinNT/2K/XP/Vista, though.
