I formatted my hard drive and installed the O/S(W2000)...First thing I did was re- install my firewall and AV software and updated the virus definitions. ...then I set my e mail accounts up and re-booted..on re-start, AVG flashed a warning to tell me the Nimda virus had been detected..Ran AVG and it found it and sorted it out. Hadn't installed anything else, hadn't downloaded any e mail..nothing ..and it was there! I've since installed all of the Microsoft updates, but how this got in there so quickly is very worrying.
