You need to go back to a date immediately before the installation of Ubuntu to lose the least data. Do that first, before reformatting which wipes the HDD clean before reinstalling the system. Rick H Hi Rick ... that is a very good idea although being as Windows XP has never been on this new hard drive I`m not sure if there would be anything to establish a Restore point from . And so far I have not found a Restore point feature in Ubuntu . Maybe I could try a Linux command like /dev/hd[a-h] to access the main partition and see if I can erase or delete it ... if so it would be good-by Ubuntu ... hello clean hard drive .
