Analyzing Earthquake Data to Explore Plate Tectonics<http://gottesmancenter.createsend1.com/t/r-l-pfutuy-jdwdhkitl-u/> During this two-day workshop teachers will work to analyze and interpret data sets that indicate the location and frequency of earthquakes and tsunami hazards and identify patterns that allow for forecasts of the likelihood and locations of future events. Participants will come away with strategies for using earthquake data from the IRIS (Incorporated Research Institutions for Seismology) website with middle and high school students, a deeper understanding of the dynamics of earthquakes, and video and written resources for teaching about earthquake risk. This workshop is for middle and high school Earth Science teachers. Investigating the Evolution of Antibiotic Resistant Bacteria<http://gottesmancenter.createsend1.com/t/r-l-pfutuy-jdwdhkitl-o/> During this two-day workshop teachers will work to analyze and interpret data sets that help us understand the evolutionary theory that explains the development of antibiotic resistant strains of the bacteria, Staphylococcus aureus. Participants will come away with strategies for using genetic data with their students to examine evolutionary relationships among bacteria, a deeper understanding of evolutionary biology, and video and written resources for teaching about evolution. This workshop is most appropriate for high school biology teachers. Brain Awareness Day<http://gottesmancenter.createsend1.com/t/r-l-pfutuy-jdwdhkitl-a/> In celebration of Brain Awareness Week, the day's programming will allow students to explore how the most complex organ in the body has evolved, how it works, and how it makes us human. Activities include investigations in the Sackler Lab and Brain Bench, Build-a-Brain and much more.
