TVL
Crosscheck should happily go to Veritas and ask it if that is backed up
and then resync the catalog and if Veritas is being that fragile then it
really needs help from Veritas. It should be only doing queries on
catalogs of what veritsa thinks it has backed up, hopefully that wont
toast your Veritas. I did love that library NOT!!!!

I suspect most of the fragility came from the Dell problems.

Cheers

Subject: Re: RMAN backup of archived log fails

Ken,

Thanks. I did come across that one, but the doco tells me that it will
verify the physical existence of the backup, doesn't it?

My hesitance with this is the NetBackup product: it manages the backups
and the tape library. If I go and try to get RMAN to access the tape
library and do a cross-check (even if I knew what tape to load - which I
don't), most probably the whole fragile kittenkaboodle will fall apart
in a screaming heap once again and the NetBackup people won't be very
happy..

Cheers,
Tony
