Content-Type: text/plain We're on windooze using a catalog but I believe the catalog or lack thereof makes no matter in this instance For example, normally we create backupsets on f:\oracle\backups on Production server. When we do disaster recovery testing we ensure that a f:\oracle\backups directory exists on the restore server and then copy the backup sets to that location on the restore server . From there on the restore server I can issue restore database and the catalog knows to look in f:\oracle\backups for the backups sets and then to initiate the restore regards steve Steve Montgomerie PeopleSoft/Oracle Administrator SIEMENS Shared Services, LLC 4400 Alafaya Trail, M/S AL-222 Orlando, FL 32826 Phone: 407 487-5219 Cell : 407 810-8387 Fax: 407 487-5833 -----Original Message----- From: H elp_me [mailto:good_dba@xxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Thursday, April 15, 2004 3:09 AM To: oracle-l@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Cc: Montgomerie Steve Subject: RE: RMAN Recovery without Catalog Hello Steve, Thanks for the reply.. I am still not clear.. will it read it from HOST_A ? What if i have already backed up using RMAN but for recovery don't have the catalog. Say : Backuped up HOST_A database using RMAN to DISK1. Now when I restore without catalog.. will it read from DISK1 or HOST_A ? Well, if i duplicate the database using RMAN.. it should read from HOST_A directly. Thanks agian.
