I haven't done this since XP, but I do recall something about having to create hardware profiles so that the OS instance could boot with correct drivers. There's (probably) more changing than the processor - chipsets, drives, etc). I don't know if such a thing is possible or necessary in Windows 7, but it'd be where I would want to investigate. Hey all, Under 64-bit Win7, we have a temporary 11.2.0.3 Oracle DB that we're using for a one-shot data move. We may need to replace the PC with something beefier and I was hoping that a "simple" HDD swap into the new box would do, fully expecting Win driver installs and such. Has anyone done this before? Potentially the swap would be Core i3 to Core i7, so in my mind, we should be Good To GoT, but the question's being asked. TIA!
