Interesting question; I have an MS in technology, but I don't think it had any influence on the decision to hire me. This might sound counterintuitive, but in my experience as a team lead, those folks who applied for DBA positions with MS degrees were either a) looking to get into a new field, or b) had no real substantial experience in the real world. Having said that, I don't see how having an MS degree can hurt you, provided you are applying for the 'right' position. - Chris -----Original Message----- From: oracle-l-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:oracle-l-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Rich Jesse Sent: Tuesday, November 11, 2008 2:02 PM To: Oracle-L Freelists Subject: Re: * Oracle / SQL Server DBA Needed in St. Louis, MO > > Wow! Other than perhaps to weed out -- appropriately or not -- "lesser" candidates in an economical time when there may be more DBAs looking for employment. Good thing my current company didn't have that requirement. My wife's the one with the Masters... :) Rich -- //www.freelists.org/webpage/oracle-l -- //www.freelists.org/webpage/oracle-l
