You might have to get your sga target lower as well.
I had issues with hyperthreading and the sga target and had to lower my sga
size.
Look at your pools - large, java, you might be able to lower those.
I didn't have great success with /PAE switch but I was on 9.2.0.6 and it had
memory leaks that supposedly were fixed in 9.2.0.8.
I used the /3G switch, used orastack and some other tricks to stretch my
virtual bytes in Windows.

Hi David,
If you?ve tried to bring the database up once and received this error, you
will need to reboot the host to clear out memory. Set the db service to not
start upon reboot so you can control the restart when the host is back.
Ensure that your settings are not too large for the amount of memory you have
available also. Remember, db_block_buffers is the number of blocks, not the
size of the pool. That?s bit me more than once.
Good luck.
Lisa

Subject: Implementing ADDRESS WINDOWING EXTENSIONS (AWE) for increased memory
Hi,
I'm trying to implement ADDRESS WINDOWING EXTENSIONS (AWE) to take advantage of
all of the memory on my server. The server details are: Windows server 2003
enterprise edition, 4 processors, 8 GB memory, Oracle 10.2.0.1.
I tried to implement awe according to metalink note 225349.1 but my instance is
not coming up. I did the following:
added switches /PAE and /3GB to the boot.ini
removed sga_target from the spfile
added USE_INDIRECT_DATA_BUFFERS=TRUE to the spfile
added DB_BLOCK_BUFFERS to the spfile
The error I get when I start the database is :
ORA-27102: out of memory
OSD-00034: additional error information
O/S-Error: (OS 8) Not enough storage is available to process this command.
I've tried raising and lowering the memory but nothing works.
Has anyone implemented AWE? If so, how did you get it to work?
Thanks,
David Grosser
