Hi Peter,

We had the very same problem and fixed it with a new firewire cable.

My educated guess would be static electricity.

Look in Device Manager (assume Win XP), and the camera is likely unrecognized,
but a reboot will make it OK again.

Perhaps if you can ground it, it may eliminate the problem.  You can also try
diconnecting and reconnecting Firewire to the computer prior to reboot, but I
would not hold my breath on that one.

Dear colleagues

The Fundus camera is a Topcon TRC-50 EX serial # 1350878
Digital camera is a Megavision 5M model FB-3020 10M (got this information from
the list of devices attached to the computer) – the number on the camera back
is 28R015455000
OIS is version 10.5.74.0 – the disc is dated 5/7/08 but I am not sure of the
date that we installed it.

I am having camera (WS-5000) problems, I believe it is the connection of the
Firewire to the camera. The Firewire is new but as soon as it touch it
inadvertently the computer cannot find the camera and gives me the following
error codes:

“ Too many errors reentering capture cycle attempting to start camera WS-5000
Color”
“ Attempt to reinitialize camera WS-5000 Color failed. System now will stop
capture using this camera until
program restarted and problem resolved. “

I don’t believe it is a software problem, but I am not sure. There is a lot of
other stuff loaded on the computer for             e-records, etc.

Any help is very much appreciated. Before I send the camera to Megavision for
repair.

Thank you
Peter
