WHA!? No one consults the photographer!!!?...............Apologies, my cynicism could not let the opportunity go. In the interest of being productive for the topic: I second the sentiment; Use of a 3rd party PACS in addition to or rather than the integrated EMR image review system. Not my choice- management made the decision, now I just want to see if anyone's run into any issues I might need to be prepared for. We are in a small multispecialty (7 docs), so will be utilizing other diagnostics along with photography. thanks for your input- hope all is well in Philly Darrin Landry, CRA, OCT-C Bryson Taylor Inc. ________________________________ From: "Sandor Ferenczy" <sandorferenczy@xxxxxxxxx<mailto:sandorferenczy@xxxxxxxxx>> Sent: Thursday, November 21, 2013 1:14 PM To: "optimal@xxxxxxxxxxxxx<mailto:optimal@xxxxxxxxxxxxx>" <optimal@xxxxxxxxxxxxx<mailto:optimal@xxxxxxxxxxxxx>> Subject: [optimal] Re: EMR Darrin, what made you go with MedFlow? We used to run NextGen for EMR & EPM, and quickly came to realize that their built in image system was horrendous. the effects on performance were exponential compared to the amount of data that was added, and the reviewing applications were lackluster. In the end, after 4 years with NextGen, we decided to switch, and decided to run with a PACS system in addition to our EMR, rather than utilizing the less than optimal built-in solutions we were seeing in demos. 2.5 TB of images into our PACS, and we are very happy with our decision. We've got direct integration of the EMR and PACS, clinical and research use have become very fluid, and can be accomplished on tablets or desktop computers. It has been a long time in coming towards the final solution, but i think 4 out of 5 days a week (and increasing) we are completely convinced this is where we want to be for the future. Anyone out there using it- how is it from a photographer's standpoint? Pros vs. Cons? sorry if I open a can of worms.... Thanks Darrin Landry, CRA, OCT-C Bryson Taylor Inc.
