Hi Catherine,

I'm replying on the list as this might be of value to listers who could wish to
change the subject line but don't know how.

There is no guarantee that this will work, but when you start to reply and are
at the beginning of the text area where you want to start writing, try pressing
shift plus the tab key. In many email programs this will put you in the area
where the subject is located. You can then cursor around in this area and use
the
delete key and/or the backspace key (depending on where your email puts you in
this area), and erase the existing subject and put in a new one if you
want.

When you have the subject line as you want it, press the tab key and it should
put you back into the text area where you can write your message or reply.

Unfortunately, there are many email programs out there, and they don't all
handle things in exactly the same way, but usually if you want to delete quoted
text from previous messages, you can use the standard delete functions just as
you would in a word processor.

I know this is kind of general, but I do hope it will help.

I've received a couple of posts asking about how to change subject lines
in some of the more pupular email programs. I know how to do this in Pine
which is what I use for email. I don't know how to do it in any of the
other programs such as Outlook Express, Eudora, etc.
If I can judge by a message which Maureen sent a couple of weeks ago to
the Optacon list, some other users are not sure how to make the "reply to"
addresses show, how to reply to a list versus privately to an individual,
and how to choose whether or not to include the original message.
In Pine it's easy to do these things because all the necessary questions
are asked with each reply message. In other programs I guess, it depends
on how the program is set. From the posts I've been receiving, some
listers don't know that these options can be changed.
Is anybody on the list conversant with any of the major email programs
enough to help with this? If so, please write to me privately, so that I
can contact the individuals who had problems with the necessary
information.
Thanks i;n acdvance for any help.
Catherine
