My job in Library for the Blind in cincinnati will be ending as of june 30. The
library is closing because of budget cuts after over 100 years! I have reopened
my case with rehab and they are trying to find me another job in the public
library. We had a big meeting about this on thursday with a rehabilitation
engineer. Afterwards, the engineer came down to see my work station where I
have an OPTACON sitting proudly on my desk. He had never seen nor heard of it!
I proceeded to demonstrate it and let him try to read with it. He asked me what
the OPTACON does for me that can't be done by a scanner. He was very interested
and said he had learned something that day!
