My first post here, I have been a long time reader of the OpenDTV archive and have really enjoyed what I have learned reading your comments. Very interesting development. I would have thought that Colombia's anouncement combinded with Uruguay's early decision to use DVB-T would have made Agentina more likely to go with DVB-T then SBTVD/ISDB-T. I think that these two developments will make it much harder for any other countries in South America to consider ATSC. I may be mistaken but I think that if ATSC ends up being a North American only format then it will rereduce the enonomies of scale to implement new inovations. Kind of along the lines of the what happerned to TDMA in the Cellular world or SECAM in the colour TV fromat world. It is unfortunate because ATSC recivers have for the last year or so finally seemed to finally have adequate reception.
