I guess the people I know/hang with don't have homes large enough to justify
a second set, let alone need one in the kitchen because the main set is
normally viewable there.

What about the "Kitchen Counter" TV?
Lots of those out there for watching morning news, WX, traffic, etc.
Almost all are OTA- no cable - bent antenna or coat hanger....
