There were a few of days in early winter when Pine Siskins may have outnumbered them (though siskins have been mostly absent since early January). Also, roving Red Crossbill flocks may have momentarily reached numbers similar to the total number of wintering Purple Finches, in brief forays out over the valley floor from the forested foothills of the coast range.
