Hi all, I'm forwarding this message the request of Dave Vesely, who mentions that Purple Martins have been back at Dunn Forest this week. -- Joel -------- Forwarded Message -------- From: Dave Vesely <dave@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> Subject: purple martins Date: Fri, 11 Apr 2014 07:18:20 -0700 Purple martins are starting to return to the Willamette Valley this month and the Oregon Wildlife Institute is seeking the assistance of local birders to locate banded purple martins. More than 150 birds have been banded in Lane and Benton Counties since 2011 and thousands more have been banded in WA and BC. So far, we have only one re-sighting in the Valley. The birds will have a numbered aluminum band on one leg and a color band on the other. If you see one of these birds, I would very much like to know about it. Band color, sex, age class (if can be determined), and location would be very helpful. And if you have a scope and patience to get a few numbers you will have my eternal gratitude.
