P.S. Here's that Suttle Lake report -- I guess it was from three days ago, not yesterday, though it came out in yesterday's COBOL digest. Central Oregon birders often do a better job of monitoring lakes in the Santiam Pass area than we do from the west side -- not as long of a drive for them. There are likely good birds to be found on Big Lake & Clear Lake right now too, and certainly some beautiful fall mountain scenery. There were 5 Surf Scoters and 19 Horned Grebes on the lake.
