As Joel mentions, birds from central Canada are heading overland for the
Pacific coast.  October - November is the time to look for loons, scoters,
long-tailed ducks, grebes, etc.

Suttle Lake

Haystack Lk

Hatfield Lk

Ochoco Res

Prineville Res

Fopiano Res

Painted Cove at the Painted Hills

Clear Lk

Waldo Lk

Columbia River from Hood River to the mouth of the Snake River

McKay NWR

Cold Springs NWR

Wallowa Lk

LaGrande sewage ponds

Thief Valley Red

Phillips Res

 

-and other deep lakes where the birds can dive.
