Hello All, Barry McKenzie and I birded the Fisher Unit from Royal Avenue this morning. From the southwest corner of the Fisher Unit, looking towards Perkins Peninsula, a single WHIMBREL could be seen on the main lake shore. There is extensive mud now exposed at the south end of the lake. This area can be see well by looking east from Perkins Peninsula. Another interesting sighting was at least 4 BREWER'S SPARROWS in the burn area near the Royal parking lot. There have been at least two Brewer's Sparrows in the area for several weeks. They have molted their ratty, worn summer plumage and are now looking quite sharp in their crisp, new fall feathers. Good Birding, John Sullivan Springfield, OR
