Eight years ago I started keeping a daily backyard bird list. Dark-eyed Juncos
have visited every single day year around, including today.

Like Alan, we don't see them most of the summer but they breed near us in the
neighborhood hillsides and we had a single young bird visit for a couple of
days in late June.
I am intrigued that they are nearby but don't visit regularly or in any notable
numbers until fall.

Could be from local breeding. I live in residential Eugene and a pair breeds
just up the block. After they are done they wander around a bit.
