Hi Craig,
We are using a jabber based protocol for instant messaging, the
server is Openfire and for the Client we are using Spark. We
currently are not archiving chat logs, however there is a plugin that
does allow for it. It was a snap to setup, client to server is
encrypted, and will authenticate against the active directory (using
LDAP.)

Question regarding the use of Instant Messaging applications like
Microsoft Live Communicator. Do you allow IM within your organization
(internal) and if so, how are you addressing any "public record" issues?
For example, do you capture IM traffic and back it up? Or is it
treated more like a phone conversation? Thanks in advance.
