Analyst: Security spending shifts to outsourcing by 2007

A study by International Data Corp. (IDC) predicts that the worldwide
market for outsourced information security services, which include
"professional services; consulting; integration and implementation
services; managed services (such as managed security service providers);
response services and education and training," will grow by an annual rate
of 20.9% to $23.5 billion by 2007. As systems and processes become more
complex, companies will increasingly need help in evaluating business risks
and securing valuable assets, according to IDC. Some of the main areas
where firms could require external assistance include protecting wireless
technologies, applications security, business continuity and disaster
recovery planning, and incident preparedness.
