************************************************************** Net Happenings - From Educational CyberPlayGround ************************************************************** Date: Mon, 28 Apr 2003 10:26:55 -0400 (EDT) From: "David P. Dillard" <jwne@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> It takes a lot of work to make Google operate. You need to do a search, and then you need to look through ten links or whatever number you have showing per page. Then when you are finished going down the page, you need to click on the next page. You can let all of this work slide out the windows, by using the Google slide show. Google Slide Show Viewer <http://labs.google.com/gviewer.html> Using this device, one can look at the website description and part of the website homepage in seperate windows, one on top of the other, one link at a time and these links will automatically change at the number of seconds interval that you set on your viewer, provided on the screen by Google. But you are in control, as you have a stop and go button as well as forward and back buttons. This will be marvelous for teachers who have not had time to prepare for class, they simply can have an interesting search scrolling through the projected computer screen which will so distract the class that they will not realize that they are not learning anything. This does, however, raise a very important philosophical question, will this lead to a critical change in internet terms. Will surfing the web be replaced by sliding the web? Nevertheless, think of a travelouge or tourism presentation with a search about tourist sites as a projected backdrop for the presentation. The only danger to this type of public use is that the web can be full of surprises and any who use this tool publically might want to set Google to filtered if live in front of an audience. Now when is this viewer going to be enabled for the Images Google web search tool found at Images Google <http://images.google.com> or to enable stolling through the virtual store with a motorized cart at Froogle Google at this URL: Froogle Google <http://froogle.google.com> I hope all on this discussion group slide through a very nice week in the picture of health. ************************************************************************** ActiveServers, Inc ServerFarm, Co-Location, Point to Point Wireless, Consulting, and Windows dotnet Servers.
