That should work. I installed OS 10.5 on a G4 800 mhz iMac, which is just shy of the speed required to install Leopard, started the iMac in target mode then put the install disk in a G4 Powerbook and installed the OS on the iMac's disk. Everything worked fine after that except that the Powerbook would always look for an external drive when booting (added about 10 seconds to the boot time before it would look on it's own drive) but Chris had the answer on how to reset the Powerbook to prefer booting from it's internal drive.
