Extensions are the name of the game in the 95% of the non-Mac using world. Mac's inability to use extensions really has hampered interoperability so finally getting some extension smarts in there is good. But, I still like the Mac ability to use meta data that's hidden from the user (in the form of TYPE/CREATOR codes to hide that extension crap and to have applications that use the same type of file, but open up different apps with a different double-click (so you can have JPEGs that open in either GraphicConverter or in Preview, depending on your particular preference). BTW You can turn on or off the hiding of extensions (guess what my setting's at ;) (then again, I occasionally delve into the world of Terminal and enjoy myself there). Eric.
