Remember, the Time Capsule is also a wifi device and should be located where it 
will not interfere with other electronics and give the wifi signal a 
interference free area to radiate.  

I located mine on top of a bookcase near the ceiling a few feet from my Rogers 
cable unit.

If you do not get a reasonable wifi coverage or unusual happenings within your 
iMac, you might consider locating the unit remotely by itself.
