Can't think why, mine does on a Canon Pixma 760 (All in one). When
the ink levels are low an Alarm button on the printer dial glows red
& each cartridge shows a Question Mark above the particular cartridge
that is low. Ink Jet Express tells me that there is probably 20% more
ink still left, but it usually indicates that there is no more ink in
the reservoir, only some absorbed by the sponge. HTH.
