I'm using Toast 5.02 on an iBook clamshell running OS 9.2.2. If you have usb devices, such as Zip drives, etc, plugged into your iBook, that could be what's causing the problem. It seems the only way I can read a CD these days on my iBook is to disconnect the usb devices, and also use the appropriate extension set to represent this disconnect, e.g. disable Iomega extensions, if the device is a Zip. It could also be an issue with the Iomega Zip CD, because definitely my Zip drive and the CD drive are incompatible. It might be the method you're using to burn. Roxio used to have quite a few instructions on its website about different methods of burning and the results, e.g. Hybrid, etc. You might want to check there. Another thing I've found is the iBook will only read a maximum of 25 burn sessions, no more, on one CD. I can read more than 25 sessions on my 7300 on the same CD, but the iBook will only read 25 of them. I've found that the best way to burn is to turn off all extensions, including virtual memory. Just enable the CD (on) and memory extension (off) and that's it. Hope this helps.
