Errol...I think the easiest way to do this is export your contacts to an
Excel file....then sort the file in Excel by the column that contains the
duplicates...once the duplicates are side by side, it should be pretty easy
to delete them pretty quickly...then just import it back into Outlook.

Like Neil said, the reason Outook isn't seeing them as duplicates is because
they aren't EXACT duplicates...so it might be easier for you to clean them
up in Excel.

My guess as to the reason why it imported so many 'duplicates', is that they
aren't strictly duplicates.
It only takes one character to be different for Outlook to see them as
different.

If that's the case, I don't know of any other way other than manual weeding
out... :-(
