Xla files are the addin for Excel. They work in my Excel 2003. If you go
to the save as window and click on the Save as type box and scroll to the
bottom, you will see it says Microsoft Excel Add-in (.xla)

Subject: [mso] XLA ? Excel 2000 compatiable ?

I was given an XLA Excel addin. Supposedly, it helps the user locate certain
names, like Find Doe, John J* to locate every who name is John Doe and has a
middle name that starts with a J. I have not seen it.

That "XLA" bothers me. Isn't that an older extension of Excel, and therefore
will not work with Excel 2000? If you guys say it is safe (well, safe as can
be, the anti virus program claims no virus), to install in Excel, I will
take a look at it.

Thanks.

Robert
