Thanks, Dian. I can see I have a lot to learn.
Can you tell me what I need to do in order to look at the coding/formatting
that is already in place on the template that was sent to me?

When looking at the document, it's just a bunch of text with a wide left
margin, but when I print it out, it has information in the footer and header
areas that don't show up on the screen.

I've tried clicking on the "Footer/Header" tab, but that doesn't show me
this information. It's like some hidden "magic" code that I don't know how
to access.

I don't know how to make the document show that hidden formatting, and
that is what I most urgently need.

I do intend to learn all about templates in order to do them myself from
start to finish, but for now, I need to be able to see how this one is put
together.

I hope that makes sense. And I truly do appreciate the information you
sent.

Thanks.

Teresa

Read this...it explains a lot about the basics of templates...

Normal.dot Template-Explained

And for a little more info, check out this article...

Sharing Macros
http://pubs.logicalexpressions.com/Pub0009/LPMArticle.asp?ID=166

Granted...the second one is more about macros than templates, but because
you need to understand how to use macros within templates, there's info
about templates and how they work and hold info within...as well as an
animated gif that shows how to put custom toolbars in custom templates. MORE
than you'll need to know to start, but good overall info to give you a solid
understanding of how they work.
