Are you importing to an existing table?
Are you importing table from one access file to another?
If you are importing to an existing table then the imported table should
have the same field's criteria.
In one of my data bases when I import, the error message comes indicating
the error and asking if I want to import anyway and I respond yes. Then an
error file is created indicating which line in the original table need to be
corrected.

Replying to my own message:
Yes, I checked Microsoft Knowledge Base. It said I needed Microsoft Office
Service Release 1/1a (SR - 1/SR - 1a).
Well, I already have it but the problem still persists. In another group, I
was advised to download it anyway, and try reinstalling it. I did. It will
not install, it is detecting that it is already present, and refusing to
reinstall. Kind of caught between a rock and hard place, it feels like.
Knowing this, is there anything else I can try? Microsoft zeroes in on
installing that Service Release, but no go.

Hello everyone. I am trying to import a smaller file this time- just 55,000
records.
Is there a way to get Access to reveal which record is causing a problem? I
am getting an error message after I attempt to import that simply says:
Invalid Argument.
[OK]
Clicking "OK" brings this message up under the "Import Text Wizard"
An error occurred trying to import the file 'C:\AllUSA8\File001.TXT' The
file was not imported/
[OK]
There probably is a record in the file it is not sure what to do with, too
many / few commas, or too many / few quotation marks, or some undesired
character.
I am wondering if there is a way to get the record number it had a problem
with, and I will check the original data from that.
