Hi, First let me say that I am a great fan of Outlook. It is an easy thing to create multiple people-oriented databases, and they can be sorted and culled in a seemingly endless number of ways. One project I have is the Vermont Breeding Bird Survey. I am a county coordinator and have to keep track of volunteer birders and their block assignments. I use categories to track unassigned volunteers and unassigned blocks. Add something called "point counts" and the skill level of the birder, and their willingness to coach less experienced birders and I end up with quite a few "categories" beyond the default ones, which I use in my business. Then there is the mailing and membership list for the Burlington Currency Project, of which I am secretary. We have nearly 30 categories of business that are listed in our directory. Outlook will do everything I need, but it really makes for quite a list in the Master category list. There are two things that Outlook will not allow me to do: 1) have several completely separate category lists; and 2) rename the fields that show in the first two data windows. I know I could get what I want in Access, but that is a lot of work just to add a more usable category list. Tom ----- Original Message ----- From: Linda F. This is even = true of having different versions. Every other Office app can co-exist with earlier or later versions - except Outlook. I gather there are technical reasons (to do with the MAPI functions?) why this is so. Sorry I can't help further. ************************************************************* You are receiving this mail because you subscribed to mso@xxxxxxxxxxxxx or MicrosoftOffice@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx To send mail to the group, simply address it to mso@xxxxxxxxxxxxx To Unsubscribe from this group, send an email to mso-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the word "unsubscribe" (without the quotes) in the subject line.
