================================= Ya know, if there's one thing that seems to cause most of the page number problems, it's that same as previous option. When anyone in my office comes to me with page numbering problems, one of the first things I tell them is to turn off the same as previous before they start working on a header or footer. It is constitently the root cause of page number problems. ================================= I make EXTENSIVE use of the "same as previous option" (in part because I work on documents with many sections) and I am able to get page numbering to work without turning that option off. I've been lucky and have never experienced the problem. The next time someone has a similar problem, let me know. I'd like to see it "up close and personal" so that I can learn more about the problem and avoid it for myself. James S.
