Yes the computer (the whole dang thing) crashed.  Its a mac (shh.. don't
tell the folks in Cupertino that this stupid thing crashes more than any
other computer I've seen).  Office not X but the one just before it  Aha,
2001.

I got the file out of Recovered Items 83 folder in my trash, pulled it out.
It has the Excel logo and is xls.

And, it was Excel, word was not involved.  The whole stupid computer crashes
as I go to a website to get an address.  (and it has crashed again since my
first email grrrr....)
