PMFJI, but just another quick design note...

Know that underlining text is no longer an accepted practice in modern
typography. It's the sign of an amateur. Rather, to show emphasis, you
should use bold, italic or a font change. Plus, with the advent of
hyperlinks, underlining is reserved for links. The only more recently
accepted practice of still using it was in a bibliography, but that's
even become "old fashioned" and publications in Italic are now more
widely accepted (as is the typography norm).

Underlines were used with typewriters cos' that was the only way to show
emphasis...but that's no longer used today. So you might want to take a
second look at just what it is you're underlining????...as it hasn't
been used in Typography for at least 10+ years.

And while we're on the subject, make sure you're also only using ONE
space after punctuation...to avoid "rivers of white."

A jagged underline could be a few different things...could be the font
you've chosen, could be the size of the font, could be the leading
(space above and below fonts), could be the printer.

Tell me what font and size you are using and I will print it here with
an underline and tell you if mine is jagged....if it is (since I don't
use HP printers - hate em), we can rule out the printer for starts.

A tip, Cindy...since you are new to this group thing....when you change
the subject, change the subject line too so people who scan subject
lines for posts they can answer don't miss it.

Subject: [mso] Re: Footer in Word 2002

Thank you so much for your help. I contacted my client and they decided
to
suppress the footer for the landscape pages. Whew!

I have another question if you don't mind?

When I print a doc that has been underlined in Word 2002, it turns out
jagged. I am using a Hewlett Packard PhotoSmart 1000. Is it the program
or
the printer?

Thanks again for your wonderful touch. I hope at some point I can
contribute to others on this list.

Cindy
